I’ve been telling you all this time to oil your ears with sesame oil. Sesame oil is a nice, warming oil to nourish your ear canals (a channel of Vata). Recently, Banyan Botanicals came out with an Ear Oil. I grabbed a bottle to test run it.
As many of you know, I’d been fighting a stubborn cold in the transition from 2019 to 2020. What you might not know is that I usually manifest cold issues in my ears (probably too many years on airplanes…and a bit of extra Vata in general). It was a great opportunity to test run the ear oil and I will say, I loved it.
Because I had a good cold in my ears, I dropped my ear oil jar into a mug, poured boiling water over it, and warmed the oil really well before use. I then poured a generous dropper-full into one ear and let it set for about five minutes. Then I switched ears. I’d suggest a towel under your ear to drain.
It was lovely. Warm and nourishing and clearing. Really warm; it was just lovely to fill my ears with juicy warmth. In addition, the crackles and pops soothed. Pain soothed. It was wonderful.
As part of your daily routine, drop a few drops of ear oil in each ear, morning and/or evening. This is the one dinacharya sense care routine I usually do in the evening. I shower in the morning and prefer that I don’t oil my ears too close to my shower. Oil + Ears + Water = Doesn’t Mix.
I have a few bottles in stock or you’re welcome to use the link above (or below) to order. If you’ve been fighting this extra yucky cold and flu season this year, or just need an immune boost, you might also want to pick up a jar of Chywanprash.
