Zoom Yoga: Quieting the Senses

to the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. -lao tzu

Sometimes, we skip over the fifth limb of yoga to get to the “good stuff” of meditation and enlightenment or to stay in the tangible realm of the body with postures and breathing. That’s like skipping the heart, because it’s a “bridge point” between the tangible, survival stuff things below and the “cool stuff” above. Our senses are what tell us WE’RE ALIVE!!! But they can be distracting if left to be unruly. They grasp after things we don’t need (stuff and too many cookies). They avoid things that make us uncomfortable (but that we might need to grow). Too often, the senses are more in control than our minds and hearts. Pratyahara is where we develop a deep relationship with our senses, so that we discover what is truly “tasty” in (and of) life, not just tasty in the moment.

If you are intrigued, join Janet and I Wednesday evenings beginning THIS WEEK as we explore the Yamas of Yoga. RSVP HERE (via Zoom).

Join us each Monday at 9:30am for live Zoom Yoga. The classes usually start with some of these juicy life nuggets and reflections to cherish and ponder and take off the mat into life. If you can’t make the live time, there’s a recording to watch in your own time and place. This is the PERFECT practice to fit into your perfectly perfect full life. Register below under: workshops.
