October’s Full Moon

Libra and Balance

Full Moons are about fruition and letting go. They are the pinnacle of not being attached to outcomes. All that you’ve worked on from September’s new moon until now should be coming to full growth. Relish your success, learn from your failures, and let go the fruits of your labors. Let your growth be perfect exactly as it is. It will never be perfectly perfect. It’s time to celebrate, so celebrate and then let it go. Don’t hold on to success. Don’t hold on to failures.

After the celebration, the moon begins to wane. Use this time to think about what you’ve learned from previous projects and goals and dreams. Turn inward to reflect and think about opportunities for moving forward. It’s not a time for doing after the moon fades from fullness, but a time for self reflection and diving inside.

Dive inside.

We’re into the moons of Libra. This is a time of cultivating balance. Do not plunge ahead into doing, but Just BE. Ask yourself: how might you cultivate better balance in your life?

October’s Full Moon Exercise: Make two lists. One of Absolute YES things. Those things that you most want to cultivate in your life. Then one of Absolute NO things. Those things that have crept in as habits, time wasters, and the like that you would like to eliminate from your life.

How do these two lists balance out? Psst: there’s no right answer. Simply answers. Trust.

Yoga? Okay. Yes, let’s. Between now and the (yipppeee) Blue Full Moon of October on Halloween, commit to a daily practice of a balance pose. I personally recommend Tree Pose, since it’s fall and the trees are a’clamoring for attention. Be a tree. Practice finding balance in your physical body. Practice finding balance in your Yes’s and No’s. Practice setting healthy, balanced boundaries.

This also might be a good time to practice balanced speech. Are you listening? Are you communicating? Ruth Bader Ginsberg said her mother taught her that “In every good marriage it helps sometimes to be a little bit deaf.” What if we trade out “marriage” for “life”?

“In every good life it helps sometimes to be a little bit deaf.”

Can you find balance in speaking up and letting it go? This is a challenging one…the key is balance. Don’t silence your own Voice, but don’t waste your Voice.

It’s a great time to journal. They’ll be plenty of time for doing later. Now, it’s time to dream, putter, and watch the transformation of trees. Look at your personal harvest and plan for the fall. Just plan. Doing comes after the new moon. Now, it’s a time to reflect. Look at the moon and reflect. Use your senses: see, hear, feel, smell, and taste…what is Autumn offering?
